Genius Hour

This morning I introduced the class to what we at CCE call, "Genius Hour". This is an hour set aside every Friday morning where the children at Cottonwood get to let their passions come to life. They have the opportunity to learn what they choose to learn. It is very powerful. The rest of the school has been doing this all year. In hopes of allowing growth and independence kindergarten waited until now to begin.  Please see the videos below for a full explanation of Genius Hour. I showed both of these this morning. The 2nd was more for motivation, but definitely worth watching if you haven't seen it. I have also given them permission to bring things from home if it will help learn more about the passion they chose. Thank you for your support on your end. :)

Arctic Animal Research and Presentations

For science this week the students got to choose an arctic animal they would like to research. Each teacher led a different animal. After 3 days of research today the students got to present their data! They did an amazing job!
